Do you know that the Lake Mainit Agusan del Norte is the 4th largest lake in the Philippines?
The Beautiful Lake Mainit Agusan del Norte
Lake Mainit, lake on the border of Surigao del Norte and Agusan del Sur provinces, northeastern Mindanao, Philippines. It is the country’s fourth largest lake and has an area of 58 sq mi (150 sq km). Its outlet is the Tubay River, which flows southward before entering Butuan Bay of the Mindanao Sea. Lake Mainit is skirted on the east by the Philippine–Japan Friendship Highway, connecting Surigao and Davao. The area has secondary forests, and rice, corn (maize), and bananas are grown.
The deepest lake in the country and also the 4th largest lake in the Philippines. Almost equally distributed between the province of Surigao Del Norte and Agusan Del Norte; surrounded by the towns of Mainit and Alegria, and Kicharao and Jabonga respectively.
Sometime in the past years there is this resort called Almont Lake Resort that used to accommodate guests who wants to admire this enchanting lake but sad to say and I just found out earlier that they already stop operation of the place. Regardless, it is a public place and you can just go in there and take photos.
If you want to take a best photo of the lake I suggest getting off at Brgy. San Roque in Kicharao, Agusan Del Norte. Alight before Kicharao terminal or else you’ll be riding another motorola to go back. This is if you are coming from Butuan. But if you are coming from Surigao, Brgy. San Roque is located after the terminal. Just inform the kundoktor.
