Do you want to visit Krabi, Thailand but no idea on where to go? Well, you must visit and explore the Hong Islands. These Islands are a group of the Rocky Mountains in the Andaman Sea located in Southern Thailand. It is a very popular one-day tour trip destination from Ao Nang, Krabi. The Islands are fringed with Rain Forests, Lagoons, and White-Sand Beaches. If you are looking for a perfect destination for your family or summer outing then you may try Hong Island Tour!
Okay, let me share you guys my story. I never tried solo traveling before and I was so scared of it. However, I conquer my fears and on the last minute I booked one day trip to Hong Islands!
In Hong Islands you will explore the beaches, coral reefs, beautiful fishes, sea caves, and many more. There’s something for every type of outdoor enthusiast— Lo Kah Island for Snorkelling, Lao Ladding Island is the paradise island where you will go back in time. Hong Lagoon is perfect for kayaking and you will enjoy the naturally made lagoon with a unique narrow passageway surrounded by mangrove forests. The Hong Island – is the highlight of your trip. Hong means, relaxing and sunbathing on a white soft sand beach.
Longtail boat or speedboat tours are a good way to visit the islands and typically depart from Krabi or Phuket. Some excursions include snorkelling or kayaking, and often feature stops at Khao Phing Kan, Ao Nang Beach, Phi Phi Island, and Lading Island.
But for me, I prefer Longtail boat for your to enjoy the beautiful and amazing hidden paradise of Krabi Thailand.
Things to Know Before You Go
- Some of the islands are located within Ao Phang Nga National Park, so fees may apply. Be sure to have cash on hand as most tours don’t include the national park fee.
- The sea can be choppy, so those prone to seasickness should prepare ahead of time—especially if you’re traveling by longtail boat.
- Because of the bumpy waters, most boat operators won’t serve pregnant women or children under 1 year old.
How to Get There
The Hong Islands are located about 15.5 miles (25 kilometers) southwest of Ao Nang. Organized tour boats and sea kayaks leave for the islands from Ao Nang’s ferry dock, as well as from Krabi town.
When to Get There
The tropical coast of southern Thailand is warm year-round, but April through May and September through October are the hottest and rainiest periods. November through March is a great time to visit, as breezes keep the temperature warm but comfortable.
Before going to Krabi, you will need to search for your hostel or hotel. You can use Booking.com, Agoda or Airbnb maybe.
There’s a lot of cheap hostel in Krabi, but you will need a hostel near or inside Ao Nang. I stayed at Green View Village Resort, you can read my review here
It is located in Ao Nang Krabi, where it is easy for you to get a good packages for Island Hopping if you are in that specific location. Why? Because, the tour agency will pick and drop you in the hotel for FREE. This is actually included to the tour package payment.
